On December 12th, Ebbert will celebrate its fourth annual Santa Lucia Pageant, an Advent tradition brought over from Scandinavia that fills this season of hopeful expectation with light, music, and joy.
Each year, local music teacher Maribeth Polito leads a lively group of K–12 students in traditional Swedish folk songs and beloved Advent carols, surrounded by candlelight.
This year, we are delighted to once again welcome special guest violinist Alice Blankenship, concertmaster of the Oregon Mozart Players, and section violinist with the Eugene Symphony, whose music adds even more brightness to our celebration.
After the pageant, the fun continues in the dining hall with coffee, cocoa, and baked treats, including the traditional lussekatter — warm saffron and raisin buns.
Children in Kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to participate in the pageant. Registration is free. This year, we’re adding a Friday night rehearsal at 6 pm on December 11th to allow participants more time to prepare their costumes and start learning some of the songs. The kids will gather back at the church at 3 pm on the day of the event to continue their preparations. Register using the Google Form below. We hope to see you there, friends!
