Mission

We believe that Mission (service to people outside the church) is not only a good thing in its own right, but a way to experience God.  These are mission opportunities we offer our members:

- Host the homeless.  One or two weeks a year, First Place Shelter participants live in our basement as they wait for First Place to find more permanent living arrangements for them.  Church members and friends cook, host, and stay overnight as helpers.

- Mission to Mexico.  At various times in our past, we have sent mission teams to Mexico to build houses and stage Bible schools.

- Food.  Among other things, we give away sack lunches at noon to any homeless or transient who stops at the church.  We also host occasional community suppers, at which anyone is welcome.

- World missions.  Through the United Methodist Church, we have a global presence, from New Orleans to Indonesia and every place in between.  We give our money, but also offer opportunities for volunteers to work in other countries.

- Meeting place.  For example, the Boy Scouts and two Birth-To-Three groups meet in our building.  We also have excellent acoustics and host occasional community music events (Mozart Players, Gleemen).
