Our Practices

To grow more Christlike and thus more fully alive, we teach these practices, derived from Jesus’ own life, and from the Methodist tradition:

  • Relate closely to Jesus Christ.
  • Participate actively in a growth group at least twice a month.  (For example, a Bible study, youth fellowship, women’s circles, Sunday School, Lenten studies.)
  • Spend seven minutes each day, or more, in prayer and Bible reading.
  • Know what percentage of my income goes to God’s work and try to increase that percentage as I can.
  • Become involved in one mission each year that fits the mission and vision of Ebbert Memorial UMC.  (“Mission” is service to people other than those in the church; for example, helping with Habitat For Humanity, or Homeless Week.)
  • Attend worship each week as I am able.

Finally, Christlikeness happens because of God’s action in us.  These practices open our minds and spirits to God’s work.
